Stable Cottage

This conversion and restoration of a stable block dating back to the 1800’s sits in the grounds of the Great Lodge in the centre of Burford. The project involved the partial demolition of the property to create living accommodation on two levels. The Cotswold stone slate roof was completely stripped and relayed on new timber cut roof with new Dormer windows and cast iron guttering.

The floors were excavated to allow the addition of under floor heating and a new damp-proof system complete with Radon barrier. New footings were dug and concreted to allow the re-building of the property in Ashlar and natural Cotswold stone set in Lime mortar. The interior was completely remodeled to accommodate the installation of a bespoke Kitchen set on a Flagstone floor.

Pethers deserve a recommendation for the first class & very professional job they completed (on time I might add) here in Burford. The contract involved a very complex re-build of a Cotswold Cottage. I am delighted with the finished job & would use them again for any kind of job one might have in mind. S. Buckingham.
